Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Server 2003

Apparently because of many complaints of icons that were crowding the desktop, when publishing later Windows, Microsoft gave users the ability to get rid of any icons they didn't like on the screen. Therefore, the only icon that many users now have is Recycle Bin. Here is an example of a Windows Server 2003 desktop that displays only the Recycle Bin icon:

The Desktop
The center and right empty area you are looking at is actually the desktop. Whenever you are asked to use the desktop, the request refers to the whole area you are looking at. But if you are asked to right-click on the desktop, it refers to the empty area of the desktop. From now on,
From now on, unless specified otherwise, the word "desktop" will always refer to the whole area of the monitor screen.
